Artist's Comments

Started playing the new 4th edition of Dungeons and Dragons and this started materializing in my sketchbook between rounds of trying not to be killed.

It's my pal Stephen's character, more or less.

Heh.. yes, those dwarfs are like ninjas :)

Having just read the current Comics Journal, this reminds me of Charlie Brown hiding behind a tree watching the Red Haired Girl's house... Sorry :p

How do you find D&D 4? I've yet to hear a good thing about it...
:iconrichardpace:
Oh, god -- now I got the image of a dwarven ninja in my head.

Geeze -- it's worse, now I got an image of a dwarf, dressed like a ninja, talking like Sean Connery or Billy Connely, "Yeh fookin' cannae see me; I've the moves of a fookin' cat!"

So far so good with the new rules - -everyone always has something to do every round that stems from either their character class or race.

Lol.. that sounds like something from Knights of the Dinner table.

But at least it's not as bad as the full plate-armored paladin begging the DM to let him roll the stealth test... :D

That doesn't seem that bad. But I guess your group is quite experienced?

Bunch a old guys still rolling dice, that's us.

Great! Wonderful idea!

Dwarf monk-ninja.... weird, but could be fun. At least when you have something like multiclassing... ;)

I have to admit, that 4th edition seems to be a good game, but not my taste. I'd prefer D&D 3.5. But that's a matter of taste and as long, as your gaming party is happy... all is well!

Don't laugh! He is hidden. He has a shield...

- It will be all right.
- How will it?
- I don't know. It's a mystery.

After playing 3.X for around 8 years, it's odd not to have the inasane range of options (some of them admittedly game-breaking) that a few score rules books offer, but my initial impression of 4E is that it's really a better designed structure for a few score more rules books.

Yeah -- I have a dwarf ninja image in my head now -- dunno if it'll hit paper yet. . . .

... all a matter of taste. As long as everybody is happy... and your dwarf is just great!!!
